On Saturday 25 October, the Fogolar Furlan Function Centre at 69 Briar Road, Felixstow will be ablaze with glamour and glitter, as beauties from many different African origins will be competing for the Miss Africa South Australia 2014 title.
Once again at stake for the winner, is a scholarship for a modelling course with Adelaide’s renowned Tanya Powell Modelling agency – as well as a cash prize.
SALT Magazine spoke with some of the contestants at recent rehearsals for the event.
Adut Akech from Sudan, Charlin Wimana from Burundi, and Tigist Asres from Ethiopia all admitted they are both excited and nervous about the experience – for each of them it will be their first time in the limelight.
Event coordinator Adau Khot said this year’s show will be much bigger than in past years, as African boys will also be presented on the runway. One of those will be student Eddi Vilton, who said he is feeling pretty good and excited about the event and has been looking forward to it. “For now I’ll be doing it just for fun,” he says.
We wish all contestants good luck and look forward to interviewing the winner and sharing the story and the best photos with our readers.
