South Australia’s Confederation of African Football to host soccer tournament

The Confederation of African Football and Development South Australia (CAF) in partnership with West Toros soccer club is hosting a soccer tournament on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of November 2013 at West Toros soccer grounds, Collins Street, Pennington from 9am to 6pm.

Twelve clubs will be displaying their skills and talents to win the prestigious CAF trophy. Participating teams are Liberia, South Africa, Congo, Zimbabwe, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Ghana, Somalia and Sudan.

The newly elected CAF committee appreciates West Toros’ support in providing a platform which will link African clubs and players with the broader communities as well as promoting multiculturalism through sport which will ultimately create a sense of belonging.

The newly formed Confederation comprises young enthusiastic African club officials committed and passionate about the development of soccer in South Australia.

Club supporters and the general public will be entertained over the weekend with live bands, D’J s, Hip Hop Artists, various cultural and drumming performances and there will also be food stalls, bar facilities,  kids’ activities, raffles and giveaways hoping to attract lots of families.

Sidique is the founder of Salt Magazine. He came to Australia in 2001 after fleeing a civil war in his homeland of Sierra Leone. He studied journalism at Fourah Bay College in Sierra Leone and worked as a reporter for the Statesman Newspaper.
